Version 0.2 introduces five characters, and all five have their own introduction scenes in the public build. That number is often the source of a second, wrong assumption — that five introduced characters means five available routes. It does not. Two of them have planned romance routes, three have none, and none of the planned endings is playable yet.
Heights, age-order positions, and strength ranks come from the developer's published chart. Route and ending status follow the developer's own statements. Personality and relationship details attributed to the fandom wiki are labelled as such, because most of the interesting detail about this cast comes from story material rather than from developer posts.
The cast at a glance
- Pierrot — 198 cm, third oldest, strongest. The silent obsession at the centre of the story and the taller of the two romance leads.
- Harlequin — 187 cm, youngest, tied second for strength. Pierrot's "seductive rival" and the shorter of the two romance leads.
- Jester — 192 cm, fourth oldest, tied second for strength. The authority figure who makes the circus feel like an institution. No route.
- Doctor — 207 cm, second oldest, third strongest. The tallest of the five and one of the more clinical presences in the cast. No route.
- Ticket Taker — 183 cm, oldest, weakest. The keeper of the threshold and the character tied most closely to the branching. No route.
Three facts apply to all five at once. The height chart was published by the developer as a reference used when drawing the sprites, which is why the numbers are canonical. The age order is relative only — no numeric age exists for anyone. And the strength ranking was published as an aside to a fan question, so it reads as characterisation rather than as a stat screen.
Pierrot
The character the game is built around. The official synopsis calls him "the silent yandere" — the developer's own description, and the reason every gesture he makes carries weight in a medium that runs on dialogue. The fandom wiki characterises him as gentle and polite on the surface while stalking the protagonist, and as protective of both the protagonist and Columbina; it also records a developer answer that Pierrot would never abandon the protagonist, emphatically so. A Pierrot romance ending is planned and in development.
Harlequin
Where Pierrot works by constancy, Harlequin works by performance. The official synopsis calls him Pierrot's "seductive rival" and frames the game as led by one or the other. The fandom wiki describes him as carefree, sadistic, teasing, and secretly jealous — and notes that he is uncomfortable with affection, which reframes the rivalry as something he wants as much as Pierrot does. His romance ending is planned and not implemented.
Jester
The character most often misdescribed online, usually by giving him a romance route he does not have. He functions as the authority figure of the circus: the fandom wiki calls him the leader and main antagonist, calm and collected rather than volatile, and the fandom also describes him as controlling the "Fools" and referring to humans as strays. Those details are interpretation of his scenes rather than developer statements, but his authority over the other characters is consistent across the build. There is no Jester route and no Jester ending.
Doctor
The tallest of the five at 207 cm and only the third strongest, which the fandom wiki explains through a preference for wit over brute force. His introduction leans hardest into restraint, examination, and medical-horror imagery, and his composure is described as breaking visibly in a particular emotional register. He has no route and no ending, and the "Clean Hands" ending attributed to him by some older fan pages is not supported by any first-party source.
Ticket Taker
Oldest, shortest, and last in the strength ranking — and yet one of the better-documented characters in the official material, because the ticket system is one of the few confirmed mechanics in the game. The developer has confirmed eight ticket types, with pink sitting below the main cast and red and green signalling a choice the protagonist makes. He has no route, and some long-standing fan guides describe a romanceable Ticket Taker route that unlocks through persistence and careful dialogue; no such route exists in the public build.
Who can actually be routed to
The confirmed route options are Pierrot, Harlequin, both, or neither. The "neither" option corresponds to the Protagonist's ending, which involves no romance but still allows friendships with the cast. Jester, Ticket Taker, and Doctor have no routes; the developer has described making them romance options as a possibility rather than a commitment, and suggested any such addition would most likely arrive as an add-on or DLC.
Read the confirmed section first and the fandom section second. The confirmed items will still be true after the next update; the fandom material is interpretation of the current build and may be revised when more scenes land. Profiles that mix the two without labelling them are the ones worth being careful with.
What is missing from the cast
Columbina is a former member of the circus whose death shapes the backstory of both leads, but she is not one of the five introduced characters and does not appear in the published height chart. Her design is still in production and the developer has deliberately withheld details. Anyone writing about this cast should treat her as a real part of the story's history and as an unfinished character at the same time.
